[Solid-State Battery: Dutch Scientists Break Through Bottleneck, Discover Characteristics of Halide Electrolytes] A team from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands discovered that halide solid-state electrolytes possess reversible redox activity, overturning conventional understanding. When combined with a red phosphorus anode, the battery achieved a capacity of 2,308 mAh/g, retaining 61% capacity after 1,780 cycles, while the full cell maintained 70% capacity after 1,000 cycles. The study introduced the novel concept of "redox-active electrolytes," for which a patent has been filed. The team is collaborating with BMW to develop prototype batteries, advancing the practical application of solid-state batteries.
